Alongside Afghan, Terminal is my favorite map in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Set in a Russian airport, it’s a medium-sized map that has become a fan favorite for its varied layout, and its ability to provide multiplayer battles that are almost always intense and action-packed.
It’s hardly surprising, then, that it’s coming back in Modern Warfare 3.
Infinity Ward’s Mark Rubin confirmed the news in a series of messages posted to Twitter, according to Joystiq. And the best part about it is that it will be completely free to all Modern Warfare 3 players — even those without the Elite subscription. A release date is yet to be confirmed, but according to the report, the map could drop as early this Thursday or Friday.
Although Infinity Ward is yet to make this news official, it is believed the new map could actually come in the form of a title update (“patch”) rather than a dedicated DLC. But just like other maps, Rubin says that Terminal will “most likely” hit Xbox 360 before arriving on the PlayStation 3.
This isn’t the first time Infinity Ward has brought back popular maps in its most recent Call of Duty titles, of course. For Modern Warfare 2, it rereleased Crash, Strike, Overgrown, and Vacant.
